The Girl Who Cheated Death by Alan Baker – Book Review

The Girl Who Cheated Death by Alan Baker is a thriller which is very intriguing. The story is about a happy teenager, Alexandra who suddenly loses her family in an accident while she the lone survivor.

Alex starts questioning her own sanity when she sees a strange figure who goes around capturing souls from dying people. Nobody believes her story but finally she finds her friend Carl and Dr. Khan on her side. The frequent encounters from the Angel of Death Azrael scare her to death. Alex travels back in time when she accidentally changes an event in future. Eventually, she figures the reason behind the visits of Azrael.

Alex decides to bring her family back by changing an event in future. The story is a little complicated. The theory of Newcomb’s paradox is applied in the story.

I enjoyed the story. I received the book’s free copy in return for a review from #NetGalley. Thanks to #BooksGoSocial for sharing this book with me. The story, the female lead, the paranormal side and the suspense are a huge plus to this story.

Dark Touch by Elle Lewis – Book Review

Dark Touch by Elle Lewis is book one of The Glass Star Trilogy. This book is a paranormal fantasy. The entire story is very engaging. The female lead from the book Sloan is an independent girl who is hiding from her past. She encounters a strange homeless man who touches her at a traffic signal leaving her skin burning and painful. She cannot figure out what’s going on when she encounters the same man (this time with wings) again trying to kill her in a park. The whole story turns around when another winged creature comes to Sloan’s rescue. She falls in deep dilemma about her whole existence and the events occurring in her life.

She finds help in the form of Old Joe with whom she fells in love eventually. But Old Joe also fails to protect Sloan from the dark creatures. Eventually, Sloan decides to trust the golden winged creatures to give her answers about the whole thing. This book definitely is a good start for a Trilogy. I am definitely going to read the next book in the series.

The author’s narration is very good. There were some action sequences in the novel and I could literally watch the fight in front of my eyes, reading the description. I enjoyed the book. This is a good read for all age groups especially young adults.
