Another Shot by Stephen Anthony Brotherton – Book Review

Another Shot by Stephen Anthony Brotherton by is an interesting novel. Jo-Jo comes searching for Freddie almost after thirty years. After their teenage love affair, they parted ways and moved on with their lives. How does the reentry of Jo-Jo in Freddie’s life affect him?

The rekindling of their love brings back so many memories, untold feelings and apologies. Freddie and Jo-Jo both are still in love with each other but they dont know what to do with that love. The timeline in the story is unique.

The author also mentioned a thing or two about certain mental illnesses, broken families and kids dealing with their broken parents. The best part is the author wrote this story inspired by some true events in his own life. An entertaining book. The pace felt a little slow in between the pages but the story as a whole is very sweet.

What Matters Most by Helen Bea Kirk – Book Review

What Matters Most by Helen Bea Kirk is a cool book. It was a quick and easy read. Thanks to #Booktasters for introducing me to this wonderful author Helen. The female lead in this book Meagan is a very strong and independent character. I liked her very much. I like how she didn’t lose hope and didn’t give up when she was robbed. She is someone who fights for what she loves and she definitely is an inspiration. King, the male lead is a nice man. He is a tough man with a soft heart. He loves his family very much and goes to any extent to protect them. I hated Gayla, King’s girlfriend at the start but I was very much impressed how the author turned her story around. I must say every single character in this book has a story of their own and it feels very realistic.

I totally enjoyed the book myself. I recommend this to all ages. The establishment of characters is very well done. The title justifies the story, after all, FAMILY is WHAT MATTERS MOST!

FIVE GOLDEN WISHES by Cari Lynn Webb – Book Review

FIVE GOLDEN WISHES by Cari Lynn Webb is a wonderful read for this holiday season. I totally loved it. This is a cute story that filled me hope for the new year. I could relate it to myself too well with me being a single mother. I get what Sadie could have dealt with with recent divorce and kids to take care of. Christmas brings hope, love and sharing. I wish I could go to Christmas Town and meet Odette, her three friends and all the locals. The setting in this small town is perfect. Dylan is the dream man. In spite of dealing with his own loss of his father, he always is willing to help his aunt and others. I enjoyed the love blossoming between Sadie and Dylan. The book is an easy read and the details of certain events are wonderfully written by the author. I recommend it to all my friends and any age group. With the Christmas just gone and New Year at our door steps, I must say that this book definitely made my year better by rekindling my spirits and hopes for the future ahead of me.

Marcia was born and raised in Argentina during the military regime which ended with the loss of many young lives in the invasion of the Falkland Islands. Amidst the devastating effects of military government and war, reading and writing became a passion which expanded and transported her imagination with the possibility of a brighter future.
At the age of eighteen, she moved to the United States, where she studied English and started her own family. She soon discovered that the love she has for her husband and children would naturally unfold towards her European roots, leading her to become a genealogist and family historian. A decade of searching, compiling, and learning the stories of thousands of people has instilled in her a profound gratitude for the strong ties that can be achieved in families through personal sacrifice.
So it is that through fiction, Shadows of Time duology (Awaken, Shadows of a Forgotten Past and Alive, Shadows of a Living Past) explores and exposes the characteristics of true love and loyalty in times of fear, war, and finally, death. But perhaps the most captivating element in the story is the battle within the souls of the main characters as they search to know who they really are and how they are connected.
Alive: Shadows of a Living Past by Author Marcia Maidana is a classic novel about second chances. Though it’s a sequel, it can be read as a stand alone, too. Florence is a wonderful and strong female lead character. The author did a wonderful job at detailing the conditions during the World War II. Florence who found life after death still can’t get rid of the nightmares about the son who died immediately after she gave birth. When her husband Alex was called for a special mission to assist with the war strategies, Florence works on her own trying to solve the mystery of her son’s death in her previous life. The female villain in the book is very strong. This book is a complete package of history, class, romance, mystery, love and strength. I enjoyed the book totally.
