And with each clue she discovers, she unwittingly draws closer to her old enemy—the deranged woman who will stop at nothing to destroy her.

When Alex goes missing in action, Florence must reach deeply into her faith as she faces her greatest fears. If Alex is lost to the war, will she allow herself to love another man and fulfill her desire to have a family? Or will she remain alone the rest of her life?

Book one in this series WON the bronze medal with the Readers’ Favorite International competition
in the historical-mystery category!!!
Make sure you Check out both books in this series!

Marcia was born and raised in Argentina during the military regime which ended with the loss of many young lives in the invasion of the Falkland Islands. Amidst the devastating effects of military government and war, reading and writing became a passion which expanded and transported her imagination with the possibility of a brighter future.
At the age of eighteen, she moved to the United States, where she studied English and started her own family. She soon discovered that the love she has for her husband and children would naturally unfold towards her European roots, leading her to become a genealogist and family historian. A decade of searching, compiling, and learning the stories of thousands of people has instilled in her a profound gratitude for the strong ties that can be achieved in families through personal sacrifice.
So it is that through fiction, Shadows of Time duology (Awaken, Shadows of a Forgotten Past and Alive, Shadows of a Living Past) explores and exposes the characteristics of true love and loyalty in times of fear, war, and finally, death. But perhaps the most captivating element in the story is the battle within the souls of the main characters as they search to know who they really are and how they are connected.
Alive: Shadows of a Living Past by Author Marcia Maidana is a classic novel about second chances. Though it’s a sequel, it can be read as a stand alone, too. Florence is a wonderful and strong female lead character. The author did a wonderful job at detailing the conditions during the World War II. Florence who found life after death still can’t get rid of the nightmares about the son who died immediately after she gave birth. When her husband Alex was called for a special mission to assist with the war strategies, Florence works on her own trying to solve the mystery of her son’s death in her previous life. The female villain in the book is very strong. This book is a complete package of history, class, romance, mystery, love and strength. I enjoyed the book totally.

Drenched Sunflowers by Tammera Cooper – Blog Tour, Review & Excerpt 1

“Rainy days and river views fill Beth’s summer as she makes a new start in small town Washington, North Carolina. After the loss of her husband in a tragic accident, simple seems better. It’s time to renovate her life, starting with a future art gallery on the river. Sam, her contractor, has everything under control, but the stress of the construction project and new business is beginning to make her crazy. Nightmares and visions of ghosts become the nightly norm. She doesn’t have time for this. She doesn’t have time for her heart to make room for him.

Sam is happy filling his days and nights with work. His two jobs as a teacher and contractor are his passions and do not leave room for much else. This new project has possibilities: a beautiful owner, the history of the house, and an 18th century diary. Beth’s dream is becoming a timely reality until she disappears.
Mystery and intrigue fill the haunting river bank of the Pamlico as Sam and Beth find the truth behind the Water Street house and each other.”

Tammera Cooper grew up on the Rappahannock River in Virginia watching the riverside community change with the times but remaining the same in spirit. The waterside lifestyle is in her blood and influences her writing every day.

Currently, she lives in Washington, North Carolina writing and sharing the small town’s history with her readers. She is a member of the Pamlico Writers Group, Women’s Fiction Writers Association, and Romance Writers of America.

Drenched Sunflowers by Tammy Cooper is a romantic thriller. This story has a ghost in it but its the friendliest and nicest ghost I’ve ever come across so far. Beth is a widow who comes to a small town to get away from his dead husband memories. She hires Sam to renovate the old building and convert it into an art gallery. They discover a basement from 18th century during the process. Beth starts seeing nightmares and a ghost. The ghost keeps warning Beth about the danger from someone but Beth ignores. Beth starts liking Sam and they both go on a couple of dates. Beth feels very overwhelmed by the opening of the art gallery, nightmares and Sam. She gets kidnapped one day. The story has a wonderful twist about the kidnapper. The author maintains the suspense in an even tone all through the story and manages to keep a hold on the reader.
I very much enjoyed this book and in fact started believing the existence of friendly ghosts after reading this novel. I found the romance and suspense in equal parts in the book. The details about the small town Washington, NC are beautifully described. The characters are also very well built.
This book is a complete entertainment. I recommend this book to all my friends.
Beth ran to the back of the house. Her chest hurt as she gasped for her next
breath. Screams came from the small outbuilding at the corner of the yard.
Rain poured down in sheets as the lightning flashed around her. Sunflowers
waved in the wind, bending, almost touching the lawn. The trees joined in the
harsh dance forced to follow the rhythm of the storm. It had gotten worse.
Someone was stuck, and they couldn’t get out of the shed. She kept running, but it seemed the shed was getting farther away. The yard was starting to
flood.
“I’m coming,” she yelled, but no words came out of her mouth. The screaming
got louder. She finally reached to the door. The lightning flashed with a loud
clap of thunder. Beth jumped because it was so loud. She reached for the
doorknob, but the handle was gone.
“Help! The water is coming in. I can’t get out.”
It was a woman on the other side of the door. The banging was so loud. Beth
tried to get some leverage on the door, but there was nothing to grab. The
rough water was getting deep, up to Beth’s waist. It wouldn’t stop coming. It
must be coming over the river bank.
She looked around the yard for something to pry the door open as the
structure started to sway. She had to get her out of there. She ran back to the
shed just as it collapsed. A horrible scream split the night air. The roof fell, and
the walls ripped apart in the surf as they disappeared into the darkness. Maybe
she could still save the woman. Maybe she wasn’t badly hurt. Beth grabbed at
the debris tossing it out of her way like a mad woman. Under a broad beam,
she found a young black woman strangely dressed. The beam held her pinned
under the water. Yard tools and other rubble floated in the waves that churned
around her. A basket floated by Beth as she bent to move the massive beam.
She looked down at the person struggling under the water. It was the woman
she had seen in the bathroom mirror, her eyes pleading for help. She tried to
grab Beth as air bubbles escaped her mouth.
“Oh, my God, it won’t move.” Beth looked down at her, the hope draining from
her spirit. The beam wouldn’t move. She tried again, but the water was too
deep now. With a quick glance back toward the house, she spied an older
woman standing in the window. Beth waved her arms, hoping for some bit of
salvation, but the woman turned away as if she couldn’t see Beth at all. Beth
turned back to the woman and reached out to lay a reassuring hand on her
arm only to find, there was no life left to be saved.

The Coffin Maker (The Coffin #1) by Breeann Allison – Book Review

The Coffin Maker by Breeann Allison is alluring. First of all, the title is interesting and found it apt after I finished reading the book. The small town Gregor’s Hallow is just like a dream town I would wanna live. It’s quiet, away from fuss and Halloween celebrations in this town are just amazing. The way the author connected all the dots is very nice. Jesse Burns who had to take over his father’s coffin making business upon his disappearance, Death personified, the Gregorians, Robin, mysterious events at the time of Halloween, plague, Randall/Timothy and last but not the least coffins. The twist in this books is unexpected. I like how the author managed to share her views about universe, balance, life, death and the life in between. Personally, I enjoyed how coffins that carry a corpse are used to save lives. The pace is good and I enjoyed the book. If I didn’t have a preplanned travel in between, I wouldn’t have put this book down before I finished it in just 2-3 days.
